I was thinking about that this morning while working on this:
Another example of things not working out as you might have thought.
It's like the squirrel apocalypse out there. I saw a squirrel come out of an oak with a walnut. I'm not asking questions. Just staying inside with my new slippers and knitting.
The pattern is Sockhead Hat. Yes, again.
The yarn is Beyond from Invictus Yarns over at etsy. It's a merino/cashmere/nylon sock yarn that is amazing. Colorway is Sweet Clementine. Love it!
I am not done knitting socks. I just needed a bit of a break. Yes, I know that doesn't make sense. Just nod and smile.
Still slowly spinning my way through a Bullseye Bump from Loop. Pondering sweater patterns while fighting the desire to buy more yarn, and really hoping that the squirrels don't figure out how many nuts they could hide inside the house if they could figure out how to get in.
Tomorrow and most likely into the weekend, I'll be celebrating a year of freedom from the judgiest of judgy pants. You never realize just how bad something was until you're free of the abuse and get their hate and judgements out of your head. Happy and relaxed is nice. Who knew?

Shocked, right?
The yarn is more lavender and grey but y'all know. The colorway is Allium and it's from Creatively Dyed Yarn. The colorway is lovely. It's the kind of semi-solid yarn I love. Dependable, subtle and workable in a variety of different patterns. HOWEVER, the base is nasty. It is many singles spun together. It is not soft and squishy nor does it have that "wear like iron" feel that we get from Opal, Regia, etc. It is hard and a little weird. Washing and blocking does not fix this issue, either. This is the second time I have used this yarn and I hated it just as much last time. While yardage is generous, that's not a selling point for someone who doesn't like the yarn.
The socks?
The usual. Waffle Rib knit toe-up with Cookie Cutter Short Row toes and heels, done Magic Loop style with a sewn bind-off.

Soft Cables in Galway worsted in dark grey. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the color.
I knit them longer because I wanted something I could pull up over my elbows. I did the lazy version so one end is slightly wider than the other. Perfect for what I wanted. Simple, fast pattern. Hardest part was remembering to mirror the cables that first time.
It was my first time working with Galway and I liked it. A bit like Patons worsted or Cascade 220. From the looks of the website, it must come in a zillion colors, and, according to the comments on Ravelry, it felts well, too. I nearly bought a sweaters worth a few weeks ago but my LYS only had two skeins of the color I loved. Now I'm semi-waiting for her to restock...
Not that I need more yarn. I tossed the hand-spun stash yesterday afternoon and was a bit surprised to realize just how much yarn there is. More than just random hanks of this and that. Sweater amounts. Enough for large lace projects. Enough for a small army of socks. I would wonder where it all came from but I kind of know...
566 yards of chain plied baby camel and silk. That makes it a 3-ply yarn... sort of.
Yeah, I know where the yarn is coming from. What a shame I don't knit lace anymore. I see A LOT of plying in my future. Oh, yeah, and maybe knitting, too.

It would be easier if you just put a store bought cookie in a store bought sweater, and next time that's what you should do. Turns out, I suffer from Faceyspace Syndrome. More of less fine for 43 and a half years. Go to take a selfie and suddenly I'm all forehead. Yeah...
Color is off but we knew that would happen. You can also see why I am not totally thrilled the sweater. I was hoping for a smaller neckline. This is fine and I do love the sweater, it's just not what I was hoping for.
You know how there's a theory that if every relationship you've ever had has been a failure, you may want to look into how you're the only thing all those relationships had in common and realize that the issue may be you? Yeah. Second sweater to not give me the neck I need/want/love. Next sweater will be a cardi.
Or maybe it will be nothing but cat toys from now on...
I love how the pattern is written. Each size is 2 pages. You only need print out your size. None of that trying to remember which set of numbers you are as you knit the pattern. Love that! Had wanted to knit this pattern for a long time but needed the upgrade to different sizes. I'm so not a 34 inch bust and that's what the original pattern was.
US 8/9/10
I did the cast on and a row of knitting with the US 8, in the hopes of getting a small enough to make me happy neck. Yeah, imagine if I hadn't. Then a couple of rows with the US 9 before switching to the US 10 needles that the pattern called for. This is also why it was a fast knit.
Love the round yoke and the increases. I made a point of doing an increase that would not give me those little holes we see in the designer's version. Lovely but so not me.
Beaverslide 90% Merino 10% Mohair
Honestly? For a while there, it was more like 90% Merino 50% Mohair. The color way is Mallard something. It's the darker of the two Mallards that the fabulous people at Beaverslide dye. The yarn was a gift from our Squishy, who has great taste in colors. I can see why Margene loves this yarn. It is wonderful to work with, blooms like a dream and is lovely to wear. Yes, with a long sleeved something under it, but whatever.
Did a sewn bind off because that's what I do.

Meanwhile, I feel like I'm fighting off a bug, slightly talked/peopled out, and trying to see how long I can last before giving in and turning on the heat. Still having sleep issues, but no more nightmares. Thank goodness! Still dealing with mom's stuff, wondering WTF comes next, and trying to take care of myself, which I've never been good at. Now I just need to figure out how it's already Wednesday...
