Fontuna is the pattern.  It is well written, charted beautiful PDF.  I had to add a few stitches to make it the right stitch count.  Cookie Cutter Short Rows knit toe-up with a sewn bind-off.  Yarn is something green...

Rauhnacht is the pattern.  I seems to translate into something having to do with 12th night or something.  I'm still not totally sure...

Had to print out the charts twice in order to cut/paste/tape the chart together to get the right stitch count but I'm okay with that.  It was great mindless knitting for a few minutes and nice cables after the heel.  Can see doing this again.  I think I still have the charts...

Finishing up the socks with the contrasting heels and still pondering a pattern with gauge issues.  We may or may not talk about that.  Like I said... still pondering.

In other news...

Slept through the super moon that didn't seem to kill anyone.  Trying to be a good sport about the rain we're having...

It's going to be 102F by the end of the week and it's 72F and raining right now.  I may not survive this but we'll see.  I'm stronger than I look.

* Btw, who wants to replace her in my life?  She's still losing weight and has taken up swimming laps daily.  The minute she becomes a size 4 I will need to replace her.  Imma just sayin'...

(She lost all that effin' weight without exercising/with a fucked up knee, and NOW she's swimming laps!  WTF?!)

On the other side, it's a waffle rib because that's a nice mindless knit and it's easy enough to count rows when it's time to knit sock #2.

Spending a quiet Sunday at home.  Getting caught up on tv, drinking iced tea and being thankful that Benadryl is a thing.  The 'itch stopping cream' has saved me.  By the time I have to leave the house tomorrow morning, I may actually look as normal as I ever look.

You'd be impressed if you saw what a hot, red, angry mess I was this morning.

In related news, the Neutrogena people are now dead to me.

The Sunday Sock!

It's Sunday and I have a sock.

Yeah.  Just the one sock.  The second is coming along but doesn't look like much yet.  Which reminds me...

Joan, does this yarn look at all familiar?  :?

I had to add stitches to the pattern to get it to work but so far so good.  Thank goodness I know how to knit socks and don't have to google fingers off.  Speaking of knitting socks...

The Summer of Socks starts Monday/tomorrow! 

Yes, we're starting early this year, but there's only so much foreplay waiting a girl can take, ya know?  There's still plenty of time to join the fun if you are so inclined.

Top That, Paleface!

I was emailing the other day with a dear friend and the topic of us being pale came up.   I sent the above photo because really who's more pale than that and still alive?  *L*

 

The yarn is Cherry Tree Hill and the colorway is something from the PINK! family.  I knit them for our Joan with the usual CCSRs while magic looping toe-up.  The pattern is mine but it's not like it would be hard to figure out.  Our Ruth said flounce, and, honey, that's what I did!

Thinking about faking my own death because wedding lace knitting is going very slowly right now, and got me thinking about these socks.  Since it's Sunday and I have a pair to show you, here we are!

Also remember that Summer is coming and we're going it again this year over at The Summer of Socks group on the Ravelry machine.  Heaven help me...

Sundays Are For Socks

Sadly, my current sock in progress is too small to show.  Sadder still, the socks I sent our Joan have not yet been photographed because she's busy having a life without us.  Not that I wanted to go out to lunch with ALL of them today but a girl likes to be asked.  Ya know?

In place of socks, how about a reminder that I know what I'm doing?*

975 yards of 2-ply lace weight handspun yarn from 4 oz of merino/cashmere purchased from McMullin Fiber Co. at Etsy.  Btw, she's having a sale right now...

I loved spinning this fiber.  It's 80% superwash merino and 20% cashmeres.   Kate does a wonderful job dyeing and keeping the fiber fluffy and happy.  Not all dyers know how to do that, ya know.  In fact, I could tell you shocking stories...

No idea what I'll do with it yet.  I have time as I'm still in full on sock/cable mode these days.  Well... with the occasional non-sock no cable project thrown in.  Just to keep me honest or something...

Meanwhile, we had a mild thunderstorm last night.  It was wonderful to watch the light show and then to fall asleep to the sound of fat raindrops hitting the roof.  It may or may not rain more today.  I'm good either way.  There is less pollen in the air now, thanks to overnight rain.  The yellow jacket is dead in the mailbox.  And I am loving my new sock.

What more could a girl want?
