Friday, I took myself out for a field trip. I went up into the foothills to Placerville. Traffic wasn't bad because Apple Hill hasn't started yet. When the apples are rolling or whatever they do, the folks living in that area are landlocked on the weekends. I can't even imagine. Traffic was bad enough Friday through Main Street.
However, I did find the yarn store I was looking for. Better still, I was able to locate free parking that did not require me to try to parallel park. I'm suburban. I can't parallel park. Nor do I need to in my daily life.
The yarn store? Dinky, depressing and made me realize just how lucky I am to have a well stocked welcoming yarn store in the neighborhood. Don't get me wrong, if you're in Placerville, Lofty Lou's is worth a browse. Just don't drive up there in the hopes of finding something fabulous and world class because, honey, it's not that. I should have taken their site as the warning it was and gone into town to the other yarn store I've been wanting to check out.

It's that wonderful time of year here when we are all over summer and waiting for something better to come along.
In other news, I am spinning again. Not enough to share but it's getting there. A wonderful cashmere sock fiber that I am loving. It may not be socks but, right now, I don't care what it becomes. I'm just enjoying the process.
Weird, right?
