I think my brains have frozen

I'm a bit tired of frozen photos and thought one that serves of a reminder that spring is coming might be a nice change.

Also know as I didn't take frozen photos this morning.  :p

Since it's Work In-Progress Wednesday, I will confess to starting a pair of house socks last night in some Lamb's Pride.  Did I mention being cold?  However, they are not looking like anything yet, so we'll have to wait until Sunday.  I am also spinning some merino/tencel that I've had for a couple of years.  I've had to predraft it a lot more than I normally would, but I'm getting frog hair again, so I'm mostly okay with that.  Photos once there's enough spun up to look like something.

The pink fluff I was working with last week has been thwacked and now waits to be re-skeined and measured.  Then we'll do photos for this here knitting-spinning-whinging blog. 

I feel like I'm behind schedule somehow but not totally sure how or where.  I have no doubt that I will find out the hard way at the worst possible moment because that's how it goes.  Ya know?

Yeah, just another cold Wednesday in my part of the world.

Baby, it's cold out there!

Like record setting cold.

Like everything is white, sparkling and crispy in the morning cold.

Like I had to knit me mitts so my fingers would not fall off while I scrape ice off the car cold. 

No, not with a credit card.  I've moved on to a real ice scraper thingy.  Thank you very much.

I used less than a skein of Cherry Tree Hill SockItToMe in Earth held double to make this pair of short fingered gloves and US 3 / 3.25 mm needles.  I used magic loop for most of it, but did use a lot of dpns for the fingers and thumbs.  There was yarn leftover, too.  (Woo!)

I showed them off at my LYS this morning and the ladies loved them.  In fact, they were surprised to learn that I had used sock yarn because of how lovely the fabric is.  Maya was thinking silk blend.

While my nails are a mess, I am calling this one a win.

& I'm not just saying that because they are keeping my fingers from falling off.

Oh!  And the thing about TypePad?  Yeah, looks like it was just a fluke thing because it hasn't happened again and my girlie at TypePad said they weren't doing anything yesterday to mess with my world.  Trust me to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Speaking of timing, anyone else watch Alice on Syfy?  It was a two part four hours in total thingy and I thought it was lovely.  I may be saying that because I have a HUGE thing for Andrew Lee Potts, but whatever.

A Snowy Kind of Love *

We had snow in the early morning hours here in northern California today, and I'm far too excited and happy about it all.  I cannot remember it snowing and sticking around in the 35-ish years I've lived here.  While not impressive by most people's standards, it's flippin' fabulous by mine.

Yes, deep down I'm six and snow starved.

Did you read Norma's blog this morning?  While we all need to get our Red Scarves in the mail, today, she mentioned the hard limit date on shipping, which will be a relief to many, I'm sure.  Yes, I just used the term "hard limit". 

Shut up.

I plan to mail mine out tomorrow.  Maybe by saying that here, it will actually happen.

Susan and Little Baby Suzie have no idea what to make of this, I'm sure.

Yesterday, I knit a short fingered glove because my Fetching fingerless mitts just aren't cutting it right now.  I MUST make/find/steal time to knit the second one today this week because it's cold out there and my hands do not enjoy the cold.

Oh, and on a slightly less happy note, I HATE the latest change TypePad has made to my compose screen.  Totally unacceptable and dreadful.  I wonder if there's an opt-out for this latest nightmare.  :?

I'll worry about that later.  Right now, I want to go play in the snow before it turns into slush.

Don't judge me.  :p

It's The Simple Stuff

This morning,I was thinking about how different this Friday/today is from last Friday.  Last Friday was a little gruesome because I was a bit ill and spent most of the day in bed.  Today, I feel much better, have slept some and am once again able to see the upside.  I'm also back to my easily amused self.

Really easily amused.

Like seeing my reflection in the mirror this morning and realizing that I was all pig tails, eyeliner and dirty mind.  One could do much worse.

(Speaking of dirty minds, there's a thread at Ravelry called "How Much Fingering?" [it's about fingering weight yarn, I assume] that I am making myself stay out of. I still chuckle over "Mr. Dangly - How Hard Is He?" from time to time.)

And the other day I was pleasantly surprised to discover that someone I adore remembered some photos of me I've posted here and there over the years and lamented missing out on seeing one that went around in email for a while last year.  Who knew?

Or the joy of standing in the sun on a cool-ish fall morning, enjoying it while it lasts because record setting cold is coming.

Maybe it's the fallout from Thankful Thursday or the fact that we're deep in STUFF! season, but I like the little things that make life better and/or more fun.  Then again, I've never been much of a STUFF! kinda girl.

That makes me somehow un-American, doesn't it?  :?

Oh well...

I've been up since 4.30a & I don't want to hear about it

I think last night/this morning was the hardest freeze we've had so far.  It was nice because cold is good, but was bad because it was cold out there.

I had promised our Opal photos of my spinning but I did not touch the wheel yesterday and I'm not sure I'll get to it today because I suck and things are CRAZY here.  Yes, more than usual.

No, I am not kidding.

Today, I am trying to get my iPod to play nicely with iTunes, but I have a sick feeling that I am going to lose everything in the process.  That would not be pretty.  Fingers crossed please because there may be tears before bedtime, which can't come soon enough.
