That is the last of the teal roving that Opal sent me as packing material. I love that teal roving and am at a bit of a loss because it's gone.
(Yes, I do realize how sad and lame that is.)
I think I'm starting to get the hang of this drop spindle spinning business.
I think...
Bowing to popular demand, I offer a peek at my current (and most demanding) work in-progress...
While I do not hate it, I can say with great certainty that it's going to be a long damn time before I knit with ORANGE! yarn again.
No, the three strands being knit together do not bother me. I quickly figured out how to make that work and got to business.
The project is at the point where it's long, wide and hot to sit under*. I will not miss it when it's gone to live it's life with Norma.
The pattern, Faux Russian Stole from A Gathering of Lace, is not hard to knit as far as working the stitches goes. However, it is a bit of a challenge because the body chart is 81 stitches wide. Then there are the two borders worked from two different charts at the same time, but they aren't much trouble.
Did I mention that the body chart is 96 rows?
I did?
Okies. Just checking.
* Even though, the heatwave is over, it's still a big wool wrap that wants to sit in my lap.

Stolen from the lovely Cetta:
That was taken around the corner from that clump of pink azaleas (at my post office) I showed you a couple/few weeks ago. I love the tiny tendrels reaching up and out. A small green patch surrounded by traffic, noise and suburban sprawl.
Yes, it's been so hot that I've lost my mind and gone all tree-huggy on you.
No, not really.
I just love the peeks at nature in unexpected places.
Like the post office.
The weekend was hot, but not as hot as expected. I am not complaining.
I got a lot of knitting done and not much else, and I'm okay with that. I am hoping to have the Faux Russian Stole done this week.
Yes, I'm nuts, but I think I can do it.
I guess we'll see.
Happy Monday, people!

I'm starting to think this is going to another of those record setting hot summers.
Goodie.
On the upside, I don't have to go anywhere or do anything other than sit in the dark and knit this weekend. This is the true upside to not having a life.
I hope y'all are having a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

Yet.
I'm feeling like I don't have anything to talk about here, so I haven't been talking. Allergies are okay. Mowing is done for the week. Weather is heating up. Something like 106F for Sunday.
Goodie.
Then there's this...
Or should that be "these"?
Or "those"?
Yes, I am knitting with three strands of yarn at the same time. The yarn seems to be cobweb weight. (Super crazy thin for the non-knitters) I had consulted with the fabulous Joan, who advised that I triple it and use US 6 needles.
One does not question Joan on matters of knitting*.
So far so good, I guess. I almost have two chart repeats done. I know that doesn't sound like much, but a chart is 96 rows, people.
Ninty-six!
The yarn is even more orange in person if that's possible, btw.
Oh, and the pattern?
It's the Faux Russian Stole from A Gathering of Lace. Details on Joan's blog.
Yes, this is a Joan Along project and I am thrilled that it is.
When I told her what pattern I was going to be knitting, she mentioned that it had been on her list for quite some time. After a couple of days of pondering, she agreed to join me.
Now I race to keep up with her.
This is a very good thing because I need to get this done, blocked and out of here. That seems to be going around as I've got another shawl that I need to hurry and finish. I see a lot of knitting in my weekend.
What's in yours?
Happy Friday, people!
* Or anything else, really.
