Pattern: A Variation of A Simple Twist
Yarn: Lorna's Lace, sock weight, Valentine colorway
Needles: 2.75mm dpns
For?: Good question
I made this pair larger than my normal size because I was intending to give them as a gift. However, they are larger than planned and I am now questioning whether or not I can actually knit for someone who has feet a different size than my own. This is not good. I had been relatively fearless about this earlier in the summer.
I've made one sock 'pattern' and now I can't stop futzing with it. This is the purl 1 knit tow version of A Simple Twist and I do love it. Simple, but cute. Kind of like me, but cute.
Shut up.
The socks have eaten my brain. Ask Carole.
I stabbed myself in the palm of my (left) hand with a dpn yesterday. By mistake. If I was going to hurt myself, I wouldn't have used a sock needle. I'm fine. It didn't bleed for long and it's not like I landed in the ER. However, I feel like a real sock knitter now.
Then again, I realize that there is yummy beyond sock yarn, so maybe I'm not really a real sock knitter... /sigh
I looked up from my sock in progress long enough to see Britney's weave. Then went back to knitting and missed most of whatever that was she tried to do on the MTV Music Video Awards thingy the other night. Her skin looked great, but yeah...
However, I did stop knitting while Fritz was telling Brenda Leigh off last night. I love that man. And talk about being happy to see pot plants! /The Closer stuffies
I no longer love knitting socks... if I ever loved knitting socks. That is now open for debate.
You know those sock yarns that people rave about? The ones that are sold out as soon as some sites get them in stock? I avoid them. If I have to be a sheep, I'd rather play in a better pasture. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing what people are knitting with and how things turn out, but I am not a bandwagon kind of girl.
And I am not Cookie A.! While I do get a kick out of the occasional sucki-uppity comments, I am tired of the googlers who land here looking for her. Oh, and I like the comments because a person goes from sucking up to ignoring me once I've told them that I am, in fact, not the fabulous sock designing Cookie A., but rather some random dork who knits socks. Plus she seems nice and we all know about me. *L*
I take notes on the socks I knit, so, in theory, the second sock will be the same size as the first socks. That does not always work out, btw, but it does more than it doesn't.
I knit while I read blogs.
The realization that there is a week between the end of the Summer of Socks and the start of SocktoberFest stopped me cold this morning. That is... assuming that the lovely Lolly is doing SocktoberFest again this year.
Speaking of Lolly, this pair of socks also counts toward Project Spectrum. Right?
I'm starting to question why I knit.
Did I mention the socks ate my brain? o.0
Some wiseass (not me, of course) is going to question whether there was a brain for the socks to eat in the first place. :)

What is it about trendy stuff that turns one into a contrarian? I try to be openminded, but if there is a knitting or TV or something trend, for some reason, I have to run the other way. It may be the same thing that made me want to tint my hair pink in high school?
I love Lorna's Laces and just finished a pink shawl in a similar colorway to your Valentine socks above. But I swear I didn't know you were knitting those when I bought my yarn. :)

I love that man, too...it was a great way to end the season. Do you watch Grace?...I love that grrl.
Beth's comment is one you should really answer, ya know;-)

Hmmm. I'm happy to jump on any bandwagon that gets me yummy yarn. I asked the DH the other day to get my giant vase down so I can look at some of my sock yarns until I knit them up. And just cuz I knit socks doesn't mean I only look at feet! We needs more of those loverly backs! (As a matter of fact, you COULD argue that sock/accessory knitters are MORE inclined to look at that yummy, because a sweater knitter would just be taking measurements and planning to cover it up with wool.)

I'm still trying to find my niche in life but I've been knitting boring socks long before it was cool to knit...well...cool socks. I've been alive a long time.
Shut up.
I can't remember how I ended up here but it wasn't because I thought you were Cookie A. I didn't even know you were Cookie anything until recently. I stayed because you're so irreverent. You make me laugh, especially on days I need one.
Plus, you made me a minion, albeit an evil one, but only on Thursdays. And alternate Saturdays. And occasional Tuesdays. And maybe once in a blue moon on a Wednesday.
But never on a Sunday.
I remain...minion 23

I'm here because Dave told me to. And I always do what Dave says. In the hopes that he'll come over to the dark side and marry me.

I came because -- I think it was because you left a comment on my blog. And I did at first think you were Cookie A. But only for a second. Stayed for your offbeat brand of humor. And your sympathy about my situation with my mom and her mattress (AKA The Neverending Story).

You'll go knit a shawl, and rip it and knit it and rip it and come back to socks like the hot little numbers they are. :)
There's another Cookie? Really? :D Certainly not even close to the wonderfulness that is you! See, I'll suck up even knowing which Cookie you are!
It's been so long that I don't even remember why I came here to begin with. But I sure know why I keep coming back. ANKLES!!!

I can neither confirm nor deny that the socks have eaten your brain.
;-)

Why did I come here? Not because I thought you were someone else, certainly. I think it might be I was a nosy comment reader and clicked on your name, came here and stayed. And now you can't get rid of me. Heh.
Lovely yummy. Oh, yes. And lovely socks, too.
Love Stacey's *ankles* comment!

Love the socks.Sometimes I jump on the bandwagon and get some yarn someone or other is raving about.I usually end up jumping off.I am not a bandwagon type either.
I did love The Closer last night!I hate that its over. Now we get to see what crap they put on in its place.Cynical.I know.
I heard you aren't a "real" sock knitter until you accidentally sit on a dpn and jab it into your butt cheek. Not that I would know...

I never think of you as a random dork.
And bandwagon jumpers are BORING!

These are the confessions I like to read.

I came here from JenLa and I never thought you were Cookie A cause I was already reading her blog first :)

I wonder if I can use my sock machine to make socks for Soctoberfest? Or, i could just pay YOU to be my sock machine!

Awww hang in there you sock knittin' fool! After over 30 pairs in three months, I think anyone would question their love of anything!

I wish I had big feet. . . those sock are pretty. I don't think I've seen that color of Lorna's Laces before, but I do like it a lot.
And that Fritz! I love Brenda, but, really, it was time that he stood up to her, and he did it in such a really nice way. I started thinking that *I'd* marry him, you know, assuming that I could divorce my husband and marry a fictional TV character who doesn't actually know me, not that it's crazy to think like that or anything. I haven't knit on a sock in over a week, I think that it's making my brain a bit crazy.

wow, that yummy click was beyond yummy. i think there were socks in this post, but that is all i can focus on right now. thanks!

LOL not sucki just wanted to say I have I'm ashamed to say about 2 skeins each of 3 different Lorna Laces colorways just looking at me. I squish them every now and again to let them know I'm thinking about it!
I bought 2 just because, I bought the next 2 because, I think the last pair I was just trying to stop the drool.
I love coming here and drooling over your socks. (wipes monitor).

Those are great socks! I love the way it looks like a downward spiral. I didn't mistake you for Cookie A. but I do find it funny about the ass-kissing. Some people.. *shakes head*
I'm not really a bandwagon type of girl either. Unless of course it's something I already want to do, then I don't really care if there's a bandwagon or not. If it's there, I'll join up. If it's not, I'll go ahead and do it either way.
I once stabbed myself in the leg with a sock needle. I was pretty horrified as I saw it sticking out of my leg. I hope that wasn't too graphic! *laugh*

People really do things like that? Ignore you after sucking up? Is this junior high?
Cripes.
You, my dear lovey, are your own Socktoberfest. No one beats you, the sock queen. No one.
xo

I never thought you were Cookie A. :) I knew you first.
I think Lolly is doing Socktoberfest again- she mentioned it on the forums in the Flickr group for Socktoberfest, to see if there was any interest in another one for this year, and there was.
