Top That, Paleface!

I was emailing the other day with a dear friend and the topic of us being pale came up.   I sent the above photo because really who's more pale than that and still alive?  *L*

 

The yarn is Cherry Tree Hill and the colorway is something from the PINK! family.  I knit them for our Joan with the usual CCSRs while magic looping toe-up.  The pattern is mine but it's not like it would be hard to figure out.  Our Ruth said flounce, and, honey, that's what I did!

Thinking about faking my own death because wedding lace knitting is going very slowly right now, and got me thinking about these socks.  Since it's Sunday and I have a pair to show you, here we are!

Also remember that Summer is coming and we're going it again this year over at The Summer of Socks group on the Ravelry machine.  Heaven help me...

Sundays Are For Socks

Sadly, my current sock in progress is too small to show.  Sadder still, the socks I sent our Joan have not yet been photographed because she's busy having a life without us.  Not that I wanted to go out to lunch with ALL of them today but a girl likes to be asked.  Ya know?

In place of socks, how about a reminder that I know what I'm doing?*

975 yards of 2-ply lace weight handspun yarn from 4 oz of merino/cashmere purchased from McMullin Fiber Co. at Etsy.  Btw, she's having a sale right now...

I loved spinning this fiber.  It's 80% superwash merino and 20% cashmeres.   Kate does a wonderful job dyeing and keeping the fiber fluffy and happy.  Not all dyers know how to do that, ya know.  In fact, I could tell you shocking stories...

No idea what I'll do with it yet.  I have time as I'm still in full on sock/cable mode these days.  Well... with the occasional non-sock no cable project thrown in.  Just to keep me honest or something...

Meanwhile, we had a mild thunderstorm last night.  It was wonderful to watch the light show and then to fall asleep to the sound of fat raindrops hitting the roof.  It may or may not rain more today.  I'm good either way.  There is less pollen in the air now, thanks to overnight rain.  The yellow jacket is dead in the mailbox.  And I am loving my new sock.

What more could a girl want?

What is the pattern.  Squishy is the girl.  New Tweed in some kind of pink tweedy color was the yarn.  I say 'was' because it's sadly discontinued.  Lovely but no longer with us.

Love the hat.  Loved the yarn.  Will mourn the yarn and knit the pattern again and again.  Such a clever and dead simple idea for a hat.  I can see it being done in several different ways for different looks.

Love it!

Mrs. Squishy also posted a photo of another hat I knit for her after recieving a text telling me she needed a girlie hat.  Since we have different idead of what "girlie" is, I figured options were good.  A girl always needs options...

Thanks for all the love and support regarding the cables. 

Just so my beloved lurkers and those jealous bitches know... my issue is with taking photos of a cabled project.  Not with making the cables.  I'm an old pro with cables at this point.  In fact, as I type, I am wrapping up another cabled project while planning the next one. 

Cables are great for keeping the hands busy while the mind ponders sweater patterns, the eternal debate about what's lunch and this week's mystery about the new fat pants that are the right size but way too big. 

Yeah... just imagine what it's like in my head.  You'd knit hats to relax, too.

Cables soon.  Swears.

Socks for Mr. Squishy of the flipper sized feet fame.  This pair fits and now I know what I'm doing should I ever feel up to knitting him another pair.  Magic Loop, CCRS, yatta, yatta, blah, blah...

Grahams!

Yes, two hats from the same pattern.  Shut up!  It was a bad week.  The red is from yarn I dyed a zillion years ago.  The cream colored hat is  Cascade 220 and that's the hat that is slightly larger.  From what I've heard, Mrs. Squishy is loving the red hat and that makes me happy.

There's one more hat on the needles.  Then I think I'm done with the hats for a while.  Going round and round and round and round is starting to get to me.  Don't get me wrong.  I love some mindless knitting as much as the next knitter, but there is a limit.  Besides, I'm working on a cabled thing that's trying to kill me.  That might be all I can handle for a while.

The Summer of Socks is Dead!

Okay... just for the year, but I'll take it.  It's been a long weird summer and I am looking forward to taking a break from socks and those people.  However, there are still socks to be shown and it is Sunday...

Knit toe-up with CCSR toes and heels.  Worked using Magic Loop with a sewn bind off.  Like all y'all don't know that already.  Love the yarn, the dyeing and how it knit up.

In other news, passionately hate gmail and their mothership, the Googles, right now.  I miss having a working email account that doesn't annoy me.  I swear, it was NEVER this bad when we were in beta.  Not even that time everything went down and everyone lost their shit.

In other other news, am so loving the kids at Typepad.  Shocking, right?  Recently, the spammers have  found this blog.  Thanks to the kids at Typepad, I don't have to do much to keep the spam off the blog.  A tiny percent of the crap gets through.  Even then, it's super simple to remove.

Not sure where the weekend is going but I think there was laundry and a tragic lack of naps.

So sad...
