Rainy Monday Love!

Manise sent me a very early birthday present last week.  The book is lovely and our Manise is just fabulous.

The yarn is from that spinning kit I bought over the summer.  That little skein is 0.4 of an ounce and it's 82 yards long.  It is 2-ply yarn that is one ply spun on a spindle, one ply spun on a wheel and spindle plied.  The colorway is Ophelia, the fiber is Merino/Tencel and I love it.  The colorway is wonderful and merino/tencel is a joy to spin on a spindle or on a wheel.

I also love that I have more merino/tencel in the fiber stash.  :D

I gave in to the Drew Barrymore ads for Covergirl's Outlast Double LipShine and looked at it on a recent trip to the drug store.  While I don't love the color choices, I did find one I could live with and the idea of not having to reapply all day long made me happy.  After a couple of weeks, I can honestly say that it's a love.  The gloss is a bit porn star when you put it on and, yes, I do blot after applying the color, but overall, it does what it says it will and that makes me happy. 

We don't get a lot of that in life, ya know.

& No, I am not getting anything for saying I love anything. 

Although, I'm not above it, either.  ;^)

Can you tell it's raining and I'm all happy/relieved?  Because it is and I am.

I love that the douche driving the red convertible Mustang was only going 25 miles an hour when he realized that I had stopped behind the other cars that had stopped and that he had time to slam on his breaks and not hit me.  Although, why he didn't just move into the next (empty) lane, I'll never know.

I loveLOVElove pain meds.  (Hate cramps,btw.)  Love having a stocked freezer/pantry, too.  Going out yesterday was just not an option.

&  I loved the Steelers game last night.  (Still think Brady is a little girl, btw, but who doesn't?)

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have go to hide from my girlies, who all know my secret and are going to come lookin' for me if I don't talk about here it soon.

A Little Unscheduled CrankyPants! Love

This is four ounces of Neapolitan super wash merino wool from her etsy shop.

Like it? 

If you hurry, you might be able to get your own.  As I type this, there is some in her shop, but who knows how long it will last...

This was my prize from being the chattiest member of the Tour de Fleece spin along on Ravelry. 

I had no idea there was such a prize.  /horrified

However, I'm not really surprised I got that title.  I mean, I was leading my team, Team CrankyPants!, and, to me, part of leading a team is being present, encouraging, and interacting with the team members.  Whether that's loving great spinning or sharing the pain of things not working out.  Honey, been there!

Plus, as you may expect of any team I lead, we got a bit off topic. 

Shocking, I know.

However, I think given the name of the team, that really shouldn't be news... and I loved the daily cranky reports when people reported in with news of their days.  It was a wonderful way to stay connected with friends and get to know a whole bunch of people better. 

That was my big win, but I'm not saying no to the yummy fiber or anything.  Don't get ideas.

Jessica, thank you so much!  You rock!

(Can you tell the weather is cool and fabulous here?  I'm all happy and relaxed.  I know right?!  It won't last.  Summer is coming back, so I'm enjoying while it lasts.  I think that's all I can do.)

Le Tour Est Fini!

This is (most of) what I spun during the Tour de Fleece challenge on Ravelry.

I started with a pound of wool silk roving (and some reservations) and ended up with 2574 yards of semi-lace weight for my darling Joan... who sent the roving and later on a stunning a spindle.

(There was also an oddball skein of semi-fingering weight.  I think she's calling it George.)

This challenge made me a better spindlers and made me realize that I really don't miss having a cat.  Being covered in stray silk and wool fibers lost it's charm fairly quickly on.  I'm just sayin'...

Now the ball... err skeins are in Joan's court and I can relax for a bit.

Or just keep spindling which is what I've been doing.

Hi, I'm a dumbass

Not exactly news, but whatever.

Squish was right.  There are is a garter stitch edging on the scarf I showed you yesterday. 

Last night, I ripped three night's worth of knitting and began again.  I'm not sure I like the new smaller size, but I'm too tired and annoyed with myself to start it yet again.

Today, I will mail out my Tour de Fleece challenge.  I should be able to show you Saturday or Monday.  Need it to arrive at it's proper home before sharing, of course. 

I'm still in a state of shock over the whole thing.  Spindling and plying a pound of roving in 16/17 days is not something I ever thought I'd do.  But I did and my brother and sister spinners tell me it looks good.

I think they are very kind. 

I guess we'll know the truth of it soon enough.
