I think I know what I'm spinning for the Tour de Fleece. I have 2 pounds of it, btw.
Unless I find something I like more.

I was on the phone with a friend while cruising the etsy and came across a fiber seller that I'm curious about*. I mentioned that the seller had a colorway I liked in Wensleydale and that I'd never spun that fiber before.
"Oh, I'll send you some Wensleydale."
If I was smarter, I would have seen that as the crystal clear warning it was. Sadly, I'm not that bright and I've been too busy for too long and it's taken a toll.
& Send me some Wensleydale, she did. It's a fiber with a long staple length that really wanted to be crazy thin yarn and that was really good. It was 8 oz of fiber and that was really a lot.
A lot. A lot.
This friend had done a custom order from an indie dyer and had received a color that was no where near what she had ordered. "There was no purple in the colorway I wanted." Now this is not the first time an indie dyer has done this. Nor will it be the last. This friend did not say anything to the dyer and just carried on until I mentioned Wensleydale and she saw her big chance to unload that stuff onto me. She had another run-in with a different indie prior to this and that dyer had been snotty and rude. I'm familiar with all involved and not really surprised by any of it.
Anyway...
1881 yards of 2-ply lace weight yarn out of 8 angry oz.
I have NO IDEA what happened!
It was interesting to spin and I learned a lot. I also poured vinegar over the yarn before getting it wet because I did not trust that shade of purple. At all.
I asked my friend if she wanted the yarn and she said no. She suggested that I give it to someone we don't care for but she doesn't want to encourage anyone and I agree with that. I offered it to another friend via email and she faked her own death rather than answer me. It was suggested that I run a contest here and the person who guessed closest to the yardage would win it. The friend who sent the fiber even offered to pay the postage to whatever unlucky soul gets the yarn shipped to them.
(Btw, you would think this stuff had BO or an STD the way we've been going on about it, but, honestly, it's just yarn made from slightly hairy fiber.)
Somewhere in all that plotting, I sort of started to like this yarn. It's enough to knit a light weight cardi or knit a shawl for a small car. It's an interesting colorway and might be fun to do something with.
At some point...
Which means, I have NO IDEA what I'm going to do with other than show all y'all.
Yay?
* Good price point but the worse business plan EVER! I love a good trainwreck.

Our Sairy and our Sharon are walking for ovarian cancer. AND our Jessalu made fabulous bags (seen below) that she sold to help raise funds for the walk(ers) that she sold in her shop. This is proof of that age-old wisdom... if you snooze, you lose!
Speaking of friends, we're getting the band back together... and then some!
Team CrankyPants is returning for another triumphant race. If you're a member of the Team and you're up for another Tour, then you need to check in with the group to get your marching/spinning orders. If you are a non-crazy reader/commenter/lurker and you would like to join Team CrankyPants, now if your big chance! If you're a scary kind of crazy, please find another Team. Thank you kindly.
Also!
Team Cupcake is joining the ranks for the Tour de Fleece this year!
YES!
A spinning team devoted to the Cupcake Fiber Company* and it's lesser known division, The Meat Sheep Industries. Any and all (non-crazy) spinners are welcome to join and spin Cupcake Fiber and/or Meat Sheep fluff with the rest of us.
Interested parties, who do not know where to go, are encouraged to comment here and/or message me at the Ravelry machine.
Watch this space for news and updates and maybe even blog buttons. I have to call the Art Department and see what's what. As the Art Department has taken up the ukulele*** all bets are off.
* There's currently a Tour related coupon** running on that shop. Shop early and shop often!
** You do need to be a member of the Team or the Tour to use the above mentioned coupon.

Socks:
More Lorna's. CCSRs, blah, blah, blah.
Revelations:
Blogging is far more enjoyable when it's done via email, which, of course, means it's not really blogging, but whatever. There is a freedom to blogging via email that I find liberating and a bit of a relief. Almost makes me want to start blogging via email all the time. However, we all know that just because I love it today does not mean I would do it tomorrow.
Some people have an interesting idea of what "epic" means. These people may be easily impressed, btw. That would explain it without me thinking my boring/normal is really fucking fabulous. We really don't want to feed the ego this week if we can help it. Trust me.
I totally LOVE Ginger! (It scans as I type. Very interesting to see what it takes issue with. Love!)
Watching someone old enough to be my mother (Hello!) have a hissy fit in public and then pout because no one cares is extremely enlightening. Right up there with listening to tech advice from someone who can't turn on their own desktop.
& The Cough:
It's largely psychosomatic at this point. Always charming when on the phone. It doesn't really bother me because it's not the first time I've had a psychosomatic cough. Although, it does annoy me that I can never remember how to spell "psychosomatic". :p

This is a fabulous thing. I'm not saying there's been anything going on here or not going on for that matter... and, if there was a story, it wouldn't be for you. I'm just sayin'...
* * * *
Darling Cindy asked me if I was knitting or spinning. I told her the truth and now she's worrying over me. I don't blame her, but I do think it's long past time for worrying.
Just send booze.*
Lorna's sock yarn. Ice Storm color way. From '08 AKA the year everything went to shit.

& Yes, I do occasionally give my cell phone to people who may in fact be crazy. However, I do know how to block people and I don't just answer the phone when it rings if I don't know the number.
Yes, there's a story and one day it may be for you. However, not right now. Too much back story to go into right now. Plus I'm not totally sure the story is over yet.
* * * *
Happy Monday, people.
Remember to check the Call ID before you pick up. ;^)
* No, not really.
