For the Knit Sock Kit Swap:
What are your favorite colors? Pinks. I am such a girl. I've got a peaches and cream complexion, so I try to stay with colors that flatter.
Are you a new sock knitter? What's new? Shiny and new, no. Still learning, yes!
How long have you been knitting socks? It's been a few months now. I am hooked.
Do you prefer solid or multicolored yarn? Multicolored. I love seeing how a skein knits up and what it becomes. There isn't a lot of mystery in a solid.
What fibers do you prefer in sock yarn? I have only use wool and wool/nylon sock yarns. I love wool.
Where do you usually knit socks? Sitting bed with my cat while watching movies or sitting right here while reading knitting blogs. Although, I can knit a 2 by 2 rib anywhere.
How do you usually carry/store small projects? I should be ashamed. Because my knitting does not leave the house, I tend to carry the sock in progress on top of the yarn cake with my spare DPNs keeping the two together. Perhaps with a pattern under the whole mess. *hangs head in shame*
What are your favorite sock knitting patterns? Because I am still 'new' to socks, I have only really used on pattern. I know, I should be ashamed. I have made a few pair of socks using the boring starter sock pattern of a heel flap that is slip 1, knit 1 all the way across on the outside and slip 1 and purl across the inside. Although, I have done the same pattern with the smooth heel flap. *keeps hanging head in shame*
What are your favorite sock knitting techniques? I just figured out how to do a peasant heel and I love it. I can't want to make my first pair of toe up socks.
What new techniques would you like to try? I am curious about short rows and two socks on circs, but I am not sure I'm ready for socks on circs yet. *L*
Do you prefer circulars or dpns for sock knitting? I love my DPNs. I can't keep circs in my hair.
What are some of your favorite yarns? I made my first pair of socks with Lorna's Lace super-wash. I loved how soft the yarn was. I'm currently making a hat with Cascade super-wash and love the feel of it. Oh, and I am in love with the baby alpaca... see earlier post. No, I am not ashamed of that.
What yarn do you totally covet? Yarn lust? Some of the custom dyed yarns I've seen blog people making make me drool and hide my Visa. With a side of baby alpaca/silk yummies...
Any pattern you would love to make if money and time were no object? Sock pattern? Nope. I think I'm still too new too all of this. I'm still looking at patterns trying to figure out if I could make them or not. *L*
Favorite kind of needles (brand, materials, straights or circs, etc)? I love my Brittany DPNs. Although, I lust after ebony ones. Don't tell the Brittanys!
If you were a specific kind of yarn, which brand and kind of yarn would you be? I would be Cascade 220. Full of potential, versatile, and surprisingly sturdy when treated the right way. Oh, and available in a multitude of colors without making anyone's chequebook cry.
Do you have a favorite candy or mail-able snack? I would kill for gummi bears right now. No... really. I'm female. Sweet or salty or both. All good. Oh, and I hate walnuts.
What’s your favorite animal? The baby alpaca. Although, I could learn to love the angora rabbits if they were nice to me.
Do you have pets? Yes.
What are their species/names/ages? One Himalayan-Persian kitty cat called Precious... she was a rescue, it's not my fault! She is 17 years old and starting to slow down.
If you were a color what color would you be? Is grumpy a color? I would be a slightly metallic pink that shifts color as the light changes.
Describe your favorite shirt (yours or someone else’s): The pic is the someone else's shirt answer. I think you had to be there, though. *L* My favorite shirt is a 3/4 sleeve brushed cotton ivory tee-shirt that is soft, lived in and lovely.
What is your most inspiring image, flower, or object in nature? I love lotus flowers/water lilies. The seeds start out at the bottom of a dark icky pond and float up toward the light, grow and become something that is beautiful, strong and revered. Plus they're usually pink. ;^)
Tell me the best quote you’ve ever heard or read: Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art... by Eleanor Roosevelt
Do you have a wishlist? No... do I need one? o.O
Anything else you’d like to share with the group today? Besides the fact that I'm a total dork? Or is that enough?
