Pattern: A Variation of A Simple Twist
Yarn:  Lorna's Lace, sock weight, Valentine colorway
Needles: 2.75mm dpns

I made this pair larger than my normal size because I was intending to give them as a gift.  However, they are larger than planned and I am now questioning whether or not I can actually knit for someone who has feet a different size than my own.  This is not good.  I had been relatively fearless about this earlier in the summer.

I've made one sock 'pattern' and now I can't stop futzing with it.  This is the purl 1 knit tow version of A Simple Twist and I do love it.  Simple, but cute.  Kind of like me, but cute.

Shut up.

The socks have eaten my brain.  Ask Carole.

I stabbed myself in the palm of my (left) hand with a dpn yesterday.  By mistake.  If I was going to hurt myself, I wouldn't have used a sock needle.  I'm fine.  It didn't bleed for long and it's not like I landed in the ER.  However, I feel like a real sock knitter now.

Then again, I realize that there is yummy beyond sock yarn, so maybe I'm not really a real sock knitter...  /sigh

I looked up from my sock in progress long enough to see Britney's weave.  Then went back to knitting and missed most of whatever that was she tried to do on the MTV Music Video Awards thingy the other night.  Her skin looked great, but yeah...

However, I did stop knitting while Fritz was telling Brenda Leigh off last night.  I love that man.  And talk about being happy to see pot plants!  /The Closer stuffies

I no longer love knitting socks... if I ever loved knitting socks.  That is now open for debate.

You know those sock yarns that people rave about?  The ones that are sold out as soon as some sites get them in stock?  I avoid them.  If I have to be a sheep, I'd rather play in a better pasture.  Don't get me wrong, I love seeing what people are knitting with and how things turn out, but I am not a bandwagon kind of girl.

And I am not Cookie A.!  While I do get a kick out of the occasional sucki-uppity comments, I am tired of the googlers who land here looking for her.  Oh, and I like the comments because a person goes from sucking up to ignoring me once I've told them that I am, in fact, not the fabulous sock designing Cookie A., but rather some random dork who knits socks.  Plus she seems nice and we all know about me.  *L*

I take notes on the socks I knit, so, in theory, the second sock will be the same size as the first socks.  That does not always work out, btw, but it does more than it doesn't.

I knit while I read blogs.

The realization that there is a week between the end of the Summer of Socks and the start of SocktoberFest stopped me cold this morning.  That is... assuming that the lovely Lolly is doing SocktoberFest again this year.

Speaking of Lolly, this pair of socks also counts toward Project Spectrum.  Right?

I'm starting to question why I knit.

Sunday's Nasturtium Poppy

Pattern: Kirsten's Nasturtium Sock Pattern

Yarn:  Claudia HandPainted in Poppy

Needles: 2.75 mm dpns

Mods:  I used dpns and short row heels and toes to prevent puddling.  I also did nine pattern repeats on the cuff. 

Knit for me.  :p

This yarn as a huge challenge.  It was very picky about what pattern it wanted and was not happy until I tried the Nasturtium Sock.  Then it was happy and stopped with the whining.

With all the orange, I think these may qualify as Project Spectrum socks.  I keep forgetting to mention PS when posting things.  I'm sorry, Lolly.  I suck.

Still love this pattern and will keep it in my knitting bag of tricks for those colorways that are picky and/or fussy about what they want to be.

I think my only regret is that I cannot get a better photo of these socks.  There is just something about how bright they are that does not want to be photographed.  They are much cuter in person. 

Then again, aren't we all?  ;^)

A Little Something Orange

Also Known As 'Look, Stacey!  I posted something!'

Isn't it pretty?  I think it's the only happy rose bush I have at this point, and it's a mini, ffs.  I really do need to find my love of gardening.  I seem to have left it somewhere.  Along with the ability to give a rat's ass.

I think I'll be hiding out this weekend in the hopes of recovering from the week.  Practical Magic is on HBO every ten minutes or so it seems.  There may be some self-torture in my near future.

What?  Where was I?

Oh!  You sock people will be happy to know that there will be socks on Sunday.  They were a huge time suck, but I do love them.  Currently working on a pair of socks for my Bev.  I think they (it) is (are) going well, but we'll see.  I always worry when I'm knitting socks for someone who doesn't have the same sized feet I do.  Ya know?  Wish me luck!

The overrated yarn socks.  STR medium-weight in Rudy Slippers.  The yarn was a birthday gift.  It reminded someone of my birthstone, garnets.  My usual two by two rib sock pattern with short row heel and toe.  Done toe up. The knitting in progress is going to be a hat for Dulaan.  Lion Wool Ease in Chestnut.  Knitting it double stranded on US 7 16 inch circular.

Cute little bag, yes?  I found it at a couple of years ago at bath and body type store and had to have it.  It's a great grab & run out the door bag in the summer when it's too hot to drag around a real handbag.

Breakfast and my beloved red lace weight.  Breakfast and I got along much better than the lace and I are doing, but I'm not giving up.  Just need to find a pattern that will work with the yarn and my limited knitting skills.  Counting to 624 just isn't happening right now.  Either I can count or concentrate on casting on loosely.  I cannot do both.
