How all y'all doin'?

Thank goodness Typepad remembered me because I truly have no idea what my password to get here is, and yes, I know that's sad.  It's okay because I am friendly with the lady driving Typepad's tweeter account... just in case.  ;^)

It's been crazy busy here and I've been clocking some serious phone time lately, too.  Great combo, btw.  o.O

This is all I can offer up to explain why I have come to have a southern accent. 

Yeah, no, I'm not kidding.

I blame our Squishy and it's so bad that I may need a blog button because, honey, it's bad.  PinkyD, who now knows for a fact that I'm crazy, came to town the other day and lemme just say there are people at my Panera who believe I'm not from around here.

I may need an intervention, y'all.  Oh, wait... they got cancelled, didn't they? 

Oh well...

In other news, I'm adjusting to a new haircut.  It's like the last one but shorter.  I think I look like someone's mom.  :?  This may take a while to feel okay about.  Although, I keep getting ladies telling me how much they like my hair and wanting to know if the white streaks are fake.  Ummmm.. what now?  You're not alone in wondering, J!

I'm also trying to deal with a semi-allergic reaction to sunblock.  FFS!  I wore it Tuesday and did not shower before bed but did Wednesday morning... like you do.  Thursday morning work up all pink and itchy ONLY where the sunblock had touched me.  How does this happen to me?  I know I'm a terrible person now, but WTFF was I like in my last one to land here?! 

Still itching as I type, btw.  /sigh

The car issues and the fish?  With luck and fingers crossed, they may have actually fixed it.  It was a bumpy road (Ha!) but I have high hopes. 

High hopes of never having to see that fish again for a long while...

Dave, The Fish & Me

She is called Mrs. Nono and she lives/works/whatever at the auto repair place that is becoming my second home.  My Honda POS had the fellas stumped for a while but it looks like they have figured out what's going on.  This is a good thing because that fish likes to float right behind my head while I try to knit in a truly not at all comfy chair.

Occasionally her tank will make a noise and I turn to see if she's coming to eat my spicy brains.  That's when I realize that she is right behind me.  I look left and can't see her.  Look right and can't see her.  It's a bit disconcerting, frankly.

Did I mention she has pointy little teeth?

While waiting, I started a sock that I later ripped because I realized that I did not have enough yarn to make a pair of socks, which would sort of defeat the purpose of socks for someone with two feet.  Am also working on a mostly mindless sock that is so ugly it actually hurts me.  I am hoping this pair goes quickly so I can move onto something pretty and pleasing.

Yes, I really am that shallow.

In other news, there is no other news.

Unless you want to know about the remodeled MickyD's that reopened across from Mrs. Nono and the fellas, and their non-functioning debit card reader thingy.  Or about Kevin at the post office, who after knowing me for the better part of ten years was SHOCKED to learn my name isn't really Cookie.  /sigh  Or how it's hotter every day and I don't have time for me, you or the garden. 

Oh, and I hate more or less everyone, everything, and their dog.  Did I mention the big neighborhood dog that likes to have a lie-down in the middle of the street and refuses to get up when you try to drive-by?

Coming Up For Air

Yes, mine are blooming.  If I had the time to spare, I'd get outside and whack them down.  Luckily for the poppies, I don't have time right now.

We're doing well, I think.  I am now able to stay awake past nine at night.  For a while there, I was sound asleep by eight.  Not good but what my body needed.  It's been a crazy few weeks and I'm starting to feel a bit more like myself.

Ravelry rumor has that all patterns by GoddessKnits are 50% off without a coupon through the end of the month.  Even though, I've sworn off buying more patterns, I still somehow ended up with a couple of her sock patterns.

My latest pet peeve is the overly needy knitter.   You know the ones.  All shiny and new and just so darn excited all the fucking time.  The ones who start threads about having seen someone knitting in a movie or in public.  The ones who want everyone to know that sweaters and knitwear in general will be huge in the fall without realizing that knits are always popular when the weather turns chilly.  The ones who see the word "knitting" in any kind of article anywhere and just have to post a link without any kind of commentary or attempt at starting a discussion.  As if a vague link or mention of something having arrived via email is enough.

They are the annoying kid-sisters of the people who are too lazy/stupid/spoiled/friendless to just fucking google it.  Yeah, don't get me started...

Trying to finish a pair of socks, while juggling a surprisingly busy schedule as I love my fabulous new hair and sit here yelling at the television.  The Following cannot end soon enough...

Sundays Are For Socks

Sadly, my current sock in progress is too small to show.  Sadder still, the socks I sent our Joan have not yet been photographed because she's busy having a life without us.  Not that I wanted to go out to lunch with ALL of them today but a girl likes to be asked.  Ya know?

In place of socks, how about a reminder that I know what I'm doing?*

975 yards of 2-ply lace weight handspun yarn from 4 oz of merino/cashmere purchased from McMullin Fiber Co. at Etsy.  Btw, she's having a sale right now...

I loved spinning this fiber.  It's 80% superwash merino and 20% cashmeres.   Kate does a wonderful job dyeing and keeping the fiber fluffy and happy.  Not all dyers know how to do that, ya know.  In fact, I could tell you shocking stories...

No idea what I'll do with it yet.  I have time as I'm still in full on sock/cable mode these days.  Well... with the occasional non-sock no cable project thrown in.  Just to keep me honest or something...

Meanwhile, we had a mild thunderstorm last night.  It was wonderful to watch the light show and then to fall asleep to the sound of fat raindrops hitting the roof.  It may or may not rain more today.  I'm good either way.  There is less pollen in the air now, thanks to overnight rain.  The yellow jacket is dead in the mailbox.  And I am loving my new sock.

What more could a girl want?

I chose Sitka Spruce and am working on the hat now... in a truly terrible yarn that we WILL be discussing later.

In the meantime, it's Sunday and I'm cooking.  Well, cooking and laughing at people who just don't get it.  Can't decide if I should be callin' bitches out or not.

I hope you're enjoying this last Sunday of 2012.  Are thinking about making any changes next year?  Or will just keep on keepin' on?

I'm still debating.  I get tired of sitting by the river, ya know?
