I almost had to put out a BOLO on this sock.  Finished last night, lost without realizing it, I found it this morning.

I cast on for sock #2 last night and have high hopes on getting the pair out of here soonish.

In other news, it's cold and windy and I really need lunch.

Life is much better than it was a week ago, but there is still room for improvement.  I'm stupid enough to still be hopeful.  Having chocolate to eat and a someone with milk chocolate brown eyes to flirt with doesn't hurt, either.

Currently, counting yardage of some handspun and getting ready to do some plying.

It's Wednesday, right?

Because that makes it Work In-Progress Wednesday and I actually have photos for that.  Y'all should be impressed.  You know that, right?

It has NEVER taken me this long to knit a pair of socks.

 

 

I really am slowing down in my old middle 40's.  Then again, I don't have the time to knit like I used to.  Yeah, whatever...

The pattern is Sprouting and the yarn is something lovely that I won over at our Margene's a couple/few/million years ago.  Shockingly, I am not knitting the pattern as written.  I know!  Can you believe it?!

Then there's the spinning...

 

 

That's the first half.  With luck, the next time we see it, it will be plied and dry and shit.  Still no idea what it will look like when I'm done, but I kind of like that.

The only other thing I've got going on these days is the unending battle of the laundry.  I'm trying hard to stay on top of it, but it's a struggle at the best of times.

Yes, it is just that exciting over here.

So far, I've spun half and I'm looking forward to the rest.  The fiber prep on these batts makes them super easy to spin.  This is huge when you're trying to baby a bad wrist and miss spinning.

I have cast on with this yarn. 

I blame/credit Kay for this project that may or may not work out.  We may end up calling it crackers.  Only time will tell.

There may (or may not) also be a sock in-progress, but I still have my doubts and it really didn't want to be photographed, so we shall wait.

After some pondering, I think I've come up with a theme for my knitting this year.  Now I just need to see if I can pull it off.  Considering my generally foul mood, we'll have to wait and see on that, too.

I know.  Lots of wait and see, but welcome to my life.  That's what we do know.  Usually while talking on the phone but whatever.

Some Kind of Progress Wednesday

By the time you read this, the hat will be done or I will have died trying.

And the pretty umbrella?

It was a gift from our Joan.  It arrived a couple of months ago and we have not had any rain since it arrived.  No, I'm not kidding.  I was starting to wonder/worry about the Power of The Joan when people started talking drought.

Then Saturday, my officially sanctioned birthday gift box arrived from Joan and in it were a few more fabulous poppy fabric/design items... including a 'tech case' that I think is for fancy schmacy phones, but I'm too old to know about that kind of thing.

Suddenly!

Magically!

The weather people are talking about rain for the rest of the week!  And into next week!  Perhaps our Joan has lifted the curse and I won't have to move to Buffalo to drive carpool in a blizzard.

Although, there are days when that really does seem like an idea.  Griff does call me Aunt Cookie after all.
