I'm not totally sure I ever knit off-white socks but I found the leftover yarn in the stash. I must have done something with it at some point. Right?
I used the thumb from those purple mitts I made last month. Just skipped all the fancy cabling because I wanted super simple. That's what I got and I love them.
Actually, my tiny mother loves them, which is better.

I offered to knit our Joan some mittens as I was weaving ends from my most recent (and currently blocking) mittens. I won't go into what-all she said but that one is even picker than I am. o.O
At one point, I offered to knit her green mittens. What kind of green? Green sweater green. (Hello! She dyed the fiber.) She admitted that she liked that yarn and went on to demand to know how much of that yarn I had left.
That's when I realized that knitting her mittens would be WAY too much (self-induced) pressure. I'll stick to knitting her socks.
Oh, and the answer if a few hundred yarns of that fabulous yarn left. There's still a hank of it I have yet to wind. Yeah... that good. ;^)

& Before our Cindy asks, no real spinning going on. I did some plying today because I want to knit mitts with yarn I made ages ago and finally have a plan for. Not sure what I'll be doing until it's dry. Perhaps knitting someone socks...

Nice mitts! They look like they'll keep your mom cozy warm.
Happy sock knitting...sounds like it'll be easier than mittens for Joan. :D

So, knit her mittens but don't tell her. Wait, that won't work...

Fantastic mitts! I bet your Mom loves them:)

Those look upscale and cozy at the same time. Nice! And did you really think our Joan who had a plan for everything would have no perfect-mitten criteria? C'mon now. (Knit her some stranded ones in your handspun. No one could turn down handspun, stranded mittens.)

Your new mitts look elegant and warm. At least you know Joan will wear socks and she'll be happy with them. Not much in life is better than warm toes!

Lovely mitts! Fancy stitchwork is fun, but there's an elegance to simple.

Ooh those gloves are perfect. Plain and useful. Nice work and extra thumb mileage is always good.
The long cuffs must be like sleeves on your tiny mamma-san! Perfect for our cold snap...

Sounds like you're keeping your mom nice and toasty this year.
Socks are definitely a good choice.

Second child who always had the hand me down mittens here, thank goodness my feet were always bigger than my sisters.

Good move, avoiding self-induced knitting pressure. The mitts look great. You're on quite a roll.

Simply perfect, perfectly simple mitts! Nice job.
Sometimes knitting for knitters is just too hard...

Beautiful mitts! I never knit plain white /off white and I wish I would because handknit simple white is so elegant but not fussy.

That might be the best use of leftover mystery yarn I have seen all day, and made all the better that they please your mom.
Yeah, sounds like sticking to socks for Joan is the right decision. xo
