Still trying to get back on schedule. Still trying to remember why I wanted to spin a sweaters worth of anything when it's hot enough to bake a potato in the car. Never mind the whole I don't really knit anymore thingy.
Did I mention that the forest fire in the next county over has sent us smoky air to go with our 3 digit temps? Did I ever tell you that too much recycled air gives me a sore throat? Then there's the fact that EVERYONE here is cranky.
Yes, everyone.

Corridale Mix Roving
Gale's Art Fiber
I enjoyed spinning this fiber until the end. Then I encountered a clump of dye hanging on to the fiber. Slightly less than thrilled. I know how it happens and what it is and everything, but it was still a bit of a letdown. Not a big deal but the first time I've ever had to deal with that sort of thing.
Yeah, I'm lucky. I know.
I had planned on cabling it and using it for socks. Then I saw how it plied up and decided to leave it. I think it might be fun as one of those boring garter stitch scarf thingies. Or as a gift to one of those weirdos that loves the color blue. ;^)
Happy Friday, everyone!

It would be a lovely blue garter anything. I hope the smoke and other ickiness gets better soon!

It's beautiful. Srsly.
I've had dye clumps happen even after doing everything right. It seems to happen the more hot/ humid it is here. Another reason I'm not dyeing this summer. Besides the fact that sitting near a boiling pot in the hot TX sun isn't good for anyone.
Fire season ends in what, 3 months? :). Maybe 4?

It's humid here and that's not conducive at all to spinning. I love those blues - Margene would, too!

Hot AND smokey? Yuck. I hope that gets over with very soon...
Whatever you knit with the blue yarn, it will be pur-tee! Love it!
Yay! It's Friday! Have a great weekend. :D

Heat is bad enough, but smoke added to that is deadly. Take very special care right now or Grover and I will be out to whup your butt. Did that sound as lame to you as it did tome? Anyway, I love the blue. It's beautiful and will make a lovely garter stitch scarf or little tiny baby shawl thing. As for the knitting? Not a stitch since Monday, but I'm beginning to go through withdrawals;-P Hugs, Sweetie. Take care and don't let those amateur crankies cramp your style!!!!!!

It's lovely! Part of the Rhinebeck stash?

I adore the color blue. Just sayin'.

Ick - sorry you have smoke now, too. Our fires are pretty much gone, so we only have the heat, heat, heat. But those weather people are promising temperatures only around 90 for the next few days. We'll see.

Hope that it cools off for you soon. Just think of all the money you're saving cooking in your car instead of the stove!
K got bitchy because it got to almost 90 here on Saturday. Feel free to roll your eyes. Then again, we have no AC, so I can't blame him too much (we hide in the basement & take cold showers when it gets in the 90s)

Love those colors. Sorry if their not yours. But if they are maybe some kind soul would offer to knit you a garter stitch scarf out of the lovely yarn.
Good luck with the particulate filled air and the triple digits. We were dealing with it last week. Left me cranky and running from air conditioned space to air conditioned space. You melted if outside for more that 30 seconds. Could go as long as a minute if the indoors had been super cold. After all you have to defrost before you can melt ;)

I hate triple digits...and we are expecting them back this coming week. The worst was the triple digits with no power for five days...which also meant no cold drinks cause there was no fridge...just water from the faucet when we were home.
I love the blue... just sayin'

Rest days! That's how I can justify not spinning for the past two days. I totally forgot! Sorry the air is so miserable down there. :-/

I've become a real fan of the Hitchhiker scarf pattern. Some of the most oddly-dyed handpaints really start to pop when you're not knitting them in the round.
I feel for you and your three-digit-temps. We've been scorching up here in Central Western Canuckistan. We just haven't had the forest fire fallout. I recommend a hearty dosing of cold girlie drinks (with umbrellas. They NEED the umbrella. It helps with the cranky), and maybe a trip to the local army surplus for a stylin' filtration mask of some sort. ;)
Me? I'm just going to hang out here with my ceiling fan on high...

I love the enthusiasm with which you write " one of those boring garter stitch scarf thingies..."
It looks pretty stunning to me. Looking at blue is supposed to be psychologically cooling. Although maybe with temps over 100 F, staring too long at any color wool might not be the thing.

Nasty smoke. We're lucky not to have that. It's super dry here too, although not as hot, & there have been a bunch of fires in the area, but nothing that big.
The yarn looks great to me. Yeah, one of those boring garter stitch thingies would be great. Sometimes that's all the knitting you need. And I second the vote for Hitchhiker, which kept me going strong despite all the garter stitch when I knit it.

Want some Oregon wildfire smoke instead? It could be organic! I'm happy to send it to you via a Marine layer, I'm tired of sneezing! I visited our happily smoke free coastline yesterday, the blue hue reminds me of the jetty and the sky.
