I really do love this spinning wheel business.
Last Friday, I went out to see the lady I'm renting the Sonata from. I paid her for another six weeks with the wheel and picked up another bobbin. I really want/need to ply with nothing but bobbins. TP rolls are fine, but I'm tired of making due.
Ya know?
I finally feel like I've got it and like I'm doing well with the lace weight yarn and maybe even something slightly socky weight. I love that I did not need lessons and have mostly figured it out on my own with the help of my amazing friends and one over the phone mini lesson on Scotch tension. I'm so glad that I gave in to the peer pressure and rented the wheel. Also thrilled that I had my spindling knowledge to help me figure things out. Huge help!
Also?
Totally love our Nora's blog post for today.
Totally.
&
Still love that boy who can stop me in my tracks with two little words. Not love-love because that would be weird and wrong in so many ways, but adore the man he is and be truly thankful he still lets me get away with so much.
The man's a saint, people.
Can you imagine what it's like putting up with me year in and year out? 0.o
The horror!
& Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to drop kick someone over at the service department of the car dealership. Bastards!

Looks to me like to totally "get" the wheel, girl. Can you lease it to own? Will they do that?

You are so putting me to shame in the spinning department! I'd better go practice some more.

Yea the spinning wheel business has so many virtues. I read and appreciated Nora's post today too (it's how I ended up spinning in 2009). Full circle, heh.

Doooode. How could you do love today?!??! :D I was refraining from posting because I have nothing but hatred. In oh, so many forms.
Thanks for the little bit of brightness. (along with Joan's hat. I don't know why it amuses me so)

Thanks for sharing Nora's post. I learned a few years ago that if I can't move forward with life, then I'm stuck running the same old roads time and time again, and let's face it. Those roads sucked ass the first time I went down them - why in the hell should I go there again?
I love your spinning and am so proud of your accomplishments! Even more so that you stuck with it and learned as you went. I promise that it's the best way to learn.
Kinda like knitting, no?

Hello? Am I in the right place? Is this the Squish's blog? Seriously, glad to see you happy (well except for having to deal with those car dealership bastards.)

Pretty yarn! Luckily I can feel the addiction so the happy talk isn't making me gag.

Love your post today! It's the sweet Cookie, the philosophical Cookie and the cranky Cookie all rolled into one. ;)

What are the two words? Inquiring minds want to know. They do not want to know what you said to the car dealership people, though; they have sensitive ears.
Your spinning is absolutely top-notch!

I have to second Diane.... has Squish hijacked the blog?? And who's the man that has stolen your cold and cranky heart? ;-)
The spinning is awesome as usual and I'm glad you came to your senses and have extended the wheel lease and hopefully with option to buy down the road. Looks like you're having yourself a wee plying fest. :-)

I need to find someone to show me how to use my damned wheel. I took a one-day workshop, but it wasn't my wheel - I need someone to show me (like I'm a child)...
Can you come over? :-)

Yeah, you and Squish are messing with my compass again. Just when I get the bitch straightened out you two are going to switch back. I'm getting seasick.
;-)

Poor Carrie.
Lovely spinning! Is that the Cormo?
I think the wheel has changed your life.

Very nice. My wheel and I have a date this week-once my legs recover from the cramps of wearing heels working this weekend. Cute shoes never do good things to me.
But I am a glutton, so I am sure I will wear them again.

So, does this shop let you rent the wheel indefinitely?

Lovely spinning! So glad you gave in to the pressure! ;op

I'm selling my Sonata since I just bought a Joy. Come on out to Salt Lake City and try it out.

Your yarn is just delicious and that photo is perfect.
Wondered why I was having so much traffic today... :)

Mmmm, beautiful yarn!
I am wondering, too, if you are able to "rent to own" that wheel? 'Cos I don't think you are giving it back anytime soon (unless it's to buy a different one).
Also, you have totally inspired me to spend some quality time with my wheel (which has been neglected terribly of late)

I really don't want to "get" the whole wheel thing. I really don't. But I love to watch YOU "get" the wheel thing. :-)

Nora's post was awesome! And hooray for renting the wheel for longer. Do you get a discount if you buy it after all this renting?
Posted by: Carole | Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 07:25 AM
I'm sorry. Do I know you?!? O.o ;)
Seriously though, I'm so happy you've found a wheel that makes you love spinning this much. You're doing amazing work! Keep it up! :-D

i'm so glad you no longer have to make do. tp rolls are such a pain in the tush!
Posted by: opal | Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 10:51 AM
Ohhhh, pink fluff. Ohhhh... yeah, you need your own wheel.
Posted by: Lucia | Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 11:27 AM
Lovely, lovely spinning! Yes, it is good to be able to make do, find substitutes and all of that, but sometimes the right equipment really does make a difference and is worth it.
Hope you did not have to kick anyone so hard that it disrupts your ability to treadle.

Love the red skein on the bottom. It has the shiny - what's in it?

Love the photo full of beautiful stuff. I'm glad you and the wheel are copacetic. (new vocabulary word after seeing the Jersey Boys.)
