- People for whom high school (or grade school) never ended.
- Special little snowflakes.
- People who do not bother learning the rules or the proper way of doing things because they believe they are #2.
- Social climbers.
- People with fake faith. (Even more, the ones who look down at good people from their perch on a steaming pile of fake faith.)
- People who are all about STUFF! and occasionally hurt themselves while trying to brag. (See Ravelry's Main 6 for examples of that a-go-go.)
- People who believe (or know) they are the center of the universe and that no one else matters but them.
- People who disrespect their partners. (This one gets right up my nose. If you don't respect him, why are you still with him?)
- People who can't think for themselves.
- Questionable hygiene. Y'all know what I'm talking about.
Not a bad list, right?
I tamed down some of my usual rants, omitted the racial stuff and pokes at certain groups I'd love to set on fire.
I may be mellowing in my old age.
Or I know I've got a million things to do today and spinning waiting for me.
Happy Tuesday, people!

Are you Israeli by any chance? :)
I love your list!

Hai! I have my speshul snowflake moments!!
Oh, wait, I'm speshul as in needing extra assistance on some days. Big Difference.
Hey, shouldn't you be spinning or something?

I have to say I agree with every thing on your list!

Right now the only people that turn me off are family. Yeah, we have a reunion this weekend. Maybe I can tell them a friend in CA needs my help forthwith and I must leave. Hopefully they'll be gone by the time I return.

#2 and #7. Yes.
Posted by: Carole | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 11:14 AM
I can't disagree with any of those. I do hate it when you hold back on the rants, though. You have such a knack for a good rant.
xoxo

heh.
Posted by: kellys | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 11:46 AM
yes!
And you misspelled it. It's "speshul snoflaque"
Posted by: DataGoddess | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 11:53 AM
Oh I have a few more, and they often involve people who have clearly never left the house before and are now travelling on an aero-plane...

#2,3,7,10--what I deal with every single day when I go see my homecare patients. Ugh.
The fake faith thing makes me think about I'm a Celebrity Get Me Outta Here, which was my only exposure to the phenomenon (...or is that disaster?) known as Speidi. Talk about fake faith!!
Posted by: Anne | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 12:56 PM
Yes, yes, yes to all of it. And although I like your rants, I just made up my own mini-rants as I read through your list. Thank you for giving me a mini dose of creativity today. ;-)

And people for whom high school will never end ...
Posted by: Devorah | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 02:06 PM
this was most illuminating. i love the term "special snowflakes". you should ship those here. they'd melt in no time. :)
Posted by: opal | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 02:11 PM
What?! You mean high school ENDS? Gasp!?!
Posted by: Diane | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 02:28 PM
Ohboy, are you gonna make me look at something new in Ravelry?
Posted by: Norma | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 02:55 PM
I like STUFF, but I tend not to talk about it. I don't see the point. By the way, did I tell you about my new car? (I'm kidding, of course).
Good list!

I was hoping you'd answer this one.
Posted by: claudia | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 03:22 PM
I liked your answers! Good job...especially the "Special Little Snowflakes"...
Posted by: Sara | Tuesday, July 07, 2009 at 03:55 PM
Hey. I'm a special little snowflake. Or maybe just a flake? I'm confused easily.
Fake faith is almost easier to tolerate then True Believers. True Believers scare me. OTOH, fake faith is a turn off. ;)

Great list, I may copy it for distrubution in my neighborhood.
Is the spinning done yet?

I find it interesting that all you people have such long list of turnoffs. Here's mine:
1. People.

PMSL that is so true Cookie. I've just put on my facebook status how I can't stand falseness hoping it hits home to a certain in law but I think her skin is too hard for it to go in.

Excellent list - I agree with all of them - especially #8. I've never understood that one.
Hope you are having fun spinning!
Posted by: Jeanne | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 03:34 AM
Heh. Love your list. :D Rant! Rant! We need a rant!
And I know you're talking about me in some of those because a) I am the center of the universe and b)I'm a special snowflake. Or is it that I'm just "special"?
I'm not even going to touch the fake religion. But, I am going to add this: I "love" when people in AA or NA use their recovery or the steps as a freakin' excuse for their behavior or to look down upon others. Puhlease. What part of honest and humble don't they get? Or step 9? Hurting your pride doesn't count as hurting someone.

Unfortunately, I have come across all of these people in the past few days. Ugh. Happy spinning!
Posted by: Frances | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 07:14 AM
Snowflakes need to melt. Just sayin'.
What are you doing blogging?!? Go spin since I can't seem to find enough time to do it for myself right now!! ;)
Posted by: Jessica | Wednesday, July 08, 2009 at 10:49 AM
Hey! I didn't know you knew my sister!
Personally, I think she was a cuckoo's egg. The rest of us are nice people...
Posted by: gayle | Thursday, July 09, 2009 at 06:26 AM
I couldn't do this one because a lot of things that get up my nose have to do with my own shortcomings, and I couldn't get past that... but I must say this is an excellent list. Fake just about anything does it for me. Except jewelry, you can have all the gaudy rhinestones you want.
Posted by: Lucia | Thursday, July 09, 2009 at 01:22 PM
That is a good list. I see Lucia summed up my feelings better than I could. I was just going to write that these lists give me anxiety about myself, and then I become overwhelmed. I also worry about certain people thinking I am referring to them specifically. Ugh! I worry too much--what a turn off! Good thing there is spinning to occupy my feeble mind.
