When I was given the yarn, I was told to knit something pretty with it. Mission accomplished and then some.
Pattern: Large Rectangle In Leaf & Trellis pattern with Trellis Border from Victorian Lace Today
Yarn: Merino Lace Weight from HandPaintedYarn.com. A bit less than two 950 yard hanks used. No, I don't remember the colorway. I've had this yarn for a couple of years.
Needles: US 7 circulars and tips for edging.
Size: 96-106 inches long give or take. 30 inches wide more or less. It would have been bigger if I knew how to block something like this and had more room.
Time Served: Started in May of 2008 (I think) and finished on 1/1/09. It's a long story that features a dead cat and a broken heart.
Knit for me!
It's huge. Too big for me because I'm a short girl, but I'll figure out a way to make it work because it is beautiful and it does make me happy. I am very proud of myself for finishing this piece. So proud that I may buy it a sofa to hang out on.
The yarn was lovely to work with, the pattern was simple enough to follow. Even the knitted on edging was fairly easy to do. Just don't ask me how closely I followed the pattern for the edging. The last corner has some issues.
In a couple of ways, this was another Joan Along project. Just not the exactly one Joan had in mind when we talked about this pattern.
I don't see myself knitting pattern again. Unless someone wants one for a wedding or something. *hint-hint*
When I can figure out how to take a decent photograph of the whole wrap, we will revisit this one.
Clearly, the photo at the left is just not good enough and only shows about two-thirds of my lovely wrap.
I thought about using the back fence like I have in the past, but I don't think that would work very well because it would give me a very wide image that none of us would really want to deal with later on.
Frankly, I'm just thrilled to have an in focus photo that comes pretty close to showing the color of this lace. Red isn't easy, people, and red lace from me, knit for me is something so red and amazing that I had to show it off.
Ya know?
Oh, and my headache is gone. Thank you all for the love and concern.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to my shawl in progress. Joan has me on a knitting schedule and I need to keep up.
Happy Saturday!

Dude, that is freaking awesome.

So beautiful! When I wear my pink one (which is about the same size) I fold it in half.
What are we knitting next from that book?

Whoa! That is amazing. A work of Cookie Art.
I just sit and drool over that book. Every time I actually consider knitting something from it, my eyes cross.

You most definitely need something to hang it over. It is positively stunning. Once again.

Amazing how fantastic lace makes a headache go away. :-) Lovely stuff, totally worth letting it marinate until the yuck fell off.

The Red Lace is gorgeous, Cookie. It deserves a sofa at the very least. Excellent work! I'm glad you're feeling better, too.

Wow, what a great start to 2009. Isn't lace amazing? It's all holes surrounded by thread and it makes beautiful stuff. My favorite kind of knitting. Gorgeous color and gorgeous project.

Wonderful job... especially working through everything the lace had attached to it. Hey! You should drive to LA on the 14th and I'll do a photo shoot for you. Just sayin'
And as for the wedding... ERM, UM, in a few years - by the time I'm 40? And you'll have to agree to be the maid of honor and get your picture taken.
